Bio
Rachel Spangler never set out to be an award winning author. She was just so poor and so easily bored during her college years that she had to come up with creative ways to entertain herself, and her first novel, Learning Curve, was born out of one such attempt. She was sincerely surprised when it was accepted for publication and even more shocked when it won the Golden Crown Literary Award for Debut Author. Since writing was turning out to be a real blast, Rachel decided to combine it with another passion and set her next romance on the ski slopes, and was absolutely stunned when her second novel, Trails Merge, won a Goldie in the category of Contemporary Romance. However, no amount of book signing or award winning can really change a Midwestern boi, and her third novel, the Goldie finalist, The Long Way Home is just that, a return to the themes and settings that mean the most in Rachel’s life and writing.Rachel and her partner, Susan, are raising their young son in small-town western New York, where during the winter they all make the most of the lake effect snow on local ski slopes, and in summer they love to travel and watch their beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Regardless of the season, Rachel always makes time for a good romance, whether she’s reading it, writing it, or living it.The Family
I’ve been married to the woman of my dream for seven years now. Susie is an English Professor which comes in handy since I can’t do grammar to save my life. She is my first editor, my sounding board, my motivational coach, my biggest fan and my best friend. We love to ski, watch baseball, and travel together. We don’t get out as often as we’d like to since becoming parents, but we love to go to movies or plays and when we can’t afford to do that we love to read and discuss books with each other. We’ve been together for almost 10 years now and I still love her more every day than I did the day before, which is saying a lot, becuase I was already head over heals in love with her after our first kiss.

In fall of 2007 I gave birth to our first ( and most likely, only) son, Jackson. He’s one amazing little boy. He likes to swim, and goes crazy for anything sports related. He enjoys books which is a good thing since his mommies are writers/teachers. He has endless engery, and loves to be the center of attention (I don’t know where he gets that from). He is the light of our lives and Susie and I just adore him to pieces. If you subscribe to this website you’ll probably get a lot of “Jackson Updates” and pictures as time goes on.

Nice site, Rach. I like your TMI page (Lincoln? Really? That’s way cool! Uh, not the assassination, but you know what I mean) and family pictures. Always ready to have updates on those, as well as your writing.
Great song…and if that story’s going to be anything like the one you told us in March, man, I want to read it….keep blogging…I’ll keep reading.
Dude, you need to update your pictures!
