Long Weekend Play and Author Event

My long weekend starts today when the family and I hop a south-bound plane headed for North Carolina.  We’re going to Raleigh to see our good friends Toni and Tosh for Tosh’s graduation.  We always have such a blast with them, and we’ve been looking forward to this weekend for months now.

Sunday we head on to Greenville, where we’ll celebrate Mother’s Day with the T’s and our Baby Daddy Will (aka Big Papi) .  We’re going to spend a few days with him in G-vegas just chilling out.  While we’re in town, I’ll be doing a reading/book signing with Georgia Beers and D. Jackson Leigh.  We’ll be reading Tuesday, May 12th at The Tipsy Teapot (409 Evans Street, Greenville NC).  We’ll be there from 5-7 p.m. reading, signing books, and taking questions.  This is going to be a great group in a funky little cafe.  Be prepared for a laid back and playful atmosphere.

There is just something about crossing the Mason-Dixon line to change your state of mind.  I’m already humming a little tune called “Wagon Wheel.”  It’s a fun old timey number sketched out by Bob Dylan and finished by The Old Crow Medicine show.  Neither the song nor the band is very well known, but its one of my favorite “heading south” songs.  I particularly love the line, ” Rock me mama like the wind and the rain, Rock me mama like a south-bound train.”  If you’ve ever spent the night curled up with a beautiful woman on a slow rolling train you’ll know what a great feeling that is.

I hope those of you within a day’s drive of Greenville will join us for the reading, but if you aren’t, I hope you enjoy the song.
